Adamawa Labour Party governorship candidate dumps Peter Obi for Tinubu barely 2 days to elections [See reasons]
In a stunning turn of events, Dr. Umar Mustapha Muqaddas, the gubernatorial candidate for the Labour Party in Adamawa state, has made a dramatic shift to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Muqaddas announced his defection at a media briefing in Yola, the state capital, urging his supporters to vote for the APC in the upcoming elections.
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is the APC's presidential candidate, while Peter Obi is the former flagbearer of Muqaddas' former party. However, Dr. Muqaddas has now pledged his support to the APC, believing that it will provide the necessary progressive, truthful, inclusive, and visionary alternative that Nigerian politics desperately needs.
Muqaddas explained that he had dissolved his Labour Party structure in Adamawa, with his new party being the beneficiary. He noted that he and his supporters had joined the LP with high hopes and expectations, but were left disappointed by the people running the party. According to him, they discovered that the LP was no better than the current political system they were attempting to change.

Despite their good intentions and efforts, Muqaddas and his supporters realized that they would not make any headway with the structure set up by the Peter Obi Presidential campaign organization. He lamented that despite their efforts and good intentions, they realized that they would go nowhere both at the national and state level.
With his defection to the APC, Dr. Muqaddas is hopeful that he and his supporters will have a fair and equal opportunity to make a difference in Adamawa state and the country as a whole. The APC, with its promises of progress, inclusivity, and vision, appears to be the ideal platform for Muqaddas and his team to achieve their goals and objectives.
“I have been completely sidelined and ignored even deliberately disrespected by LP structure both at the national and state and same applies for other candidates in the LP,” he said.
