BREAKING NEWS : INEC declares Bola Ahmed Tinubu as winner of 2023 Nigeria Presidential Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the 2023 presidential election. This historic announcement was made by the INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, at the National Collation Centre in Abuja.

Tinubu's victory was celebrated across the country as he defeated 17 other candidates in the presidential race, emerging as the candidate with the highest number of votes cast in his favour. The APC candidate garnered an impressive total of 8,794,726 votes, meeting the first constitutional requirement to be declared the winner.

In addition, Tinubu scored over 25% of the votes cast in 30 states, surpassing the 25 states constitutionally required. This feat is a testament to his widespread popularity and appeal among Nigerians.

Following Tinubu closely in the presidential race was Atiku Abubakar of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) with a total of 6,984,520 votes. Peter Obi of the Labour Party came in third place with 6,101,533 votes, while Rabiu Kwankwaso of the NNPP came fourth with 1,496,687 votes.

It's noteworthy that only the top four candidates won the presidential election in at least one state. Tinubu, Atiku and Obi each won in 12 states, while Mr Kwankwaso won only in Kano.

However, winning a majority of states is not a requirement for a candidate to be declared the winner of the election. Tinubu's victory is a significant milestone in the history of Nigerian politics, and it sets the stage for his administration to deliver on its campaign promises of progress and development for all Nigerians.
