BREAKING NEWS: Zamfara State Governor Order Arrest to all those rejecting old naira note in his state 

Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has issued a directive for the arrest of individuals who decline to accept the legal tender status of the old Naira notes. The notes in question include N200, N500, and N1,000 denominations. Governor Matawalle announced this during the swearing-in ceremony of new High Court Judges and Special Advisers at the Government House in Gusau, the state capital.

Matawalle emphasized that the old currency notes are still valid until a final ruling is delivered on the case filed by three Northern Governors of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara states against the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the federal government at the Supreme Court. The Governors sought an extension of the legal tender status of the old Naira notes, and Matawalle is urging citizens to accept and use the notes until a decision is reached.

“As you are all aware, the economy of the country as a whole has been plunged into a serious crisis by the decision of the Central Bank to cease recognition of the old naira notes as legal tender from February 10th. This decision compounded the already dire situation of our State occasioned by banditry and sundry crimes, which significantly disrupted economic activities in the State and the subregion over the years,” Gov. Matawalle said.
