Chelsea Coach Graham potter reacts Chelsea draw match against Real Madrid
Chelsea Football Club's head coach, Graham Potter, has shared his thoughts on his team's UEFA Champions League quarter-final draw against Real Madrid. During a pre-match press conference ahead of the league game against Everton on March 18th, 2023, Potter expressed his team's ambition to win the trophy, just like every other team left in the competition.
This is the third consecutive season that both teams have faced each other in the knock-out stage of the tournament. Chelsea boasts an impressive record against Real Madrid in European competition, having lost only one of their seven games against the Spanish giants. In fact, Chelsea has the lowest percentage of losses (14%) against Real Madrid of any team to have played them more than five times in Europe.
I said we would try to win the Uefa Champions League. That is the same for the other seven clubs. We'll focus on Real Madrid when we get there. The feeling is excited, but I'd rather speak about Everton as that's the game tomorrow and the other stuff is a long way away.
Potter's words reflect the mindset of a team that is determined to go all the way and lift the coveted trophy. As the competition heats up, every team will be looking to gain an edge over their opponents, and Chelsea is no exception. With the likes of Mason Mount, Romelu Lukaku, and Jorginho in fine form, the Blues will be hoping to secure a favorable result against Real Madrid in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.
