Governor Wike reveals why Peter Obi is his hero

The recently concluded presidential election in Nigeria has sparked a lot of conversations, with some individuals standing out for their outstanding contributions. One of such individuals is Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), who has been hailed as a hero by the Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking at a town hall meeting with Igbo traders in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike expressed his admiration for Obi and praised him for his significant role in ensuring the emergence of a southerner as the President-elect. He debunked the allegations that he worked against Obi's presidential bid, clarifying that he had no reason to do so.

Wike pointed out that Obi's participation in the election was instrumental in guaranteeing that power would shift to the South. He said, "In this election that we just did, Obi is my hero, as far as I’m concerned. If he didn’t contest, power would have remained in the North."

He urged the traders to ignore detractors and vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming governorship and state assembly elections, explaining that a united southern region was essential for progress and development.

Governor Wike also took the opportunity to address issues affecting the traders at the Garrison junction market, where he donated 30 plots of land for their ICT village project.

The Governor's words carry a lot of weight, particularly as he is a prominent figure in Nigerian politics. His endorsement of the PDP is also significant, as the party seeks to regain control of Rivers state in the upcoming elections.
