"My son watched me get arrested during military era" ~ Falana break silence as he reveals why he won’t stop his son, Falz from ’embarrassing’ government

Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), a human rights attorney, has responded to criticisms that his son Folarin Falana, called Falz, is embarrassing the government.

He claimed that he received requests from people to confront Falz about his statements and actions, which are damaging to the reputation of the government.

Mr. Falana claims that Falz is an adult who is aware of his behavior and that he questioned the source of the idea.

He continued by recalling how his son had frequently seen him get imprisoned numerous times as he was fighting for democracy during the military era.

The Senior Attorney made his remarks in response to a song that his rapper son released, in which he criticized the INEC Chairman.

He said; “One of these guys one day said, ‘Falana talk to your son; he should stop embarrassing the government’. I said which government? You mean that boy who is an adult? Can I give you his number so you can talk to him? But be careful because when that boy was growing up, I was being arrested from time to time. So, the only language he understood was detention, arrest and the rest of them.

“One day, when that boy was six, he asked his mother, “Our teacher taught us that only criminals were arrested. Is my father a criminal? Why is he always being arrested? And the mother had to say that in Nigeria, under the military, only two sets of people were arrested: Criminals suspects and political suspects. Political suspects are those who are out to expose the criminality of the government. That is what you see going on.”

 Falz recently entered the studio to record a song criticizing Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Election Commission, INEC.

On the song, which is titled "Mr. Yakubu" and criticizes how the 2023 general elections were conducted, he included Hip Hop superstar Vector.

The activist teased a portion of the music video on his official Twitter profile, piqued social media users' excitement.

Before to this, he had criticized the electoral board for spending N300 billion on an election that many local and international observers, as well as well-meaning Nigerians, had referred to as a fraud and not credible, free, or fair.

Also, he made public a sample of what is thought to be a replica of the tampered-with result sheets in Nigeria.

Falz and Vector have chosen to use the diss track to discuss the election.

The chairman of INEC, as well as political parties that were allegedly complicit in the electoral malpractices, were denounced by the son of Femi Falana, SAN.
