Tension as 43000 schoolgirls drop out of school due to pregnancy in Tanzania
Between July 2021 and June 2022, no fewer than 42,954 Tanzanian schoolgirls discontinued their studies due to pregnancy.
This is supported by the most recent report from Tanzania's Controller and Auditor General (CAG), which was made public on April 10 of 2023.
According to the 2021 to 2022 CAG report, out of the 42,954 schoolgirls who became pregnant, 23,009 were in secondary schools and 19,945 were in primary schools.
According to the research, out of 82,236 secondary schoolgirls who were expected to finish their regular schooling in 2021, 28 percent were pregnant.
According to the report, the pregnant schoolgirls came from 19 different local government agencies across the nation.
