"I don’t want him to ever hear from me" ~ Comedian Basketmouth Speaks on his beef with AY Makun
Bright Okpocha, a well-known comedian in Nigeria, has declined to respond to AY's assertion that their conflict was sparked by a N30,000 debt.

Ayodeji In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Richard Makun, also known as AY Makun, recalled how Basketmouth frequently asked him to perform at events at the beginning of his career.
He claims that the 17-year animosity with Basketmouth began during an occasion he went to which the organizers had anticipated Basketmouth's attendance.
He said that he hadn't been paid and that he had to contact Basketmouth, who confirmed that the organizers hadn't done so.
AY claimed that when he called the event's organizers, he was astounded to learn that payment had already been made.
He said; “Usually, what we get at that time is N30,000. N30,000 at that time was everything to me,”“N30,000 would buy me my pack of [noodles], recharge cards, fuel for my generator. [It allowed me] to pay just one or two people to join me to do one or two skits that I can just quickly put out. I got this job and the people weren’t too happy to see me because they were expecting a Basketmouth to come. Long story short, the guy was later happy after the performance. There was an exchange of contact. Then I left.“Two weeks running, I hadn’t seen ₦30,000. Because I didn’t see the ₦30,000, I was starving in Iponri. I decided to ask for ₦30,000 and he said this person hasn’t remitted. He said they were not happy.”
When asked about the situation during a live comedy event, Basketmouth responded that he didn't want to comment or give his side of the tale.
He clarified that he does not want the actor to ever receive a response from him and he does not want what he says to be interpreted by the media as an official reaction to AY.
